It's no secret that winter is a tough time for blood centers across the nation, and when you factor in a worldwide pandemic, the desperate need for blood donors is even greater.

COVID-19 cases are at an all-time high in the Stateline area right now and ICU beds are full at our local hospitals, but sadly accidents and emergent medical needs don't stop in the midst of a pandemic. Neither does the spread of the virus to local medical staff, and the effects are now hitting one of Rock River Valley Blood Center's donor locations. RRVBC posted on Facebook yesterday (1/10/22);

Our Perryville Donor Center will be closed due to a staffing shortage and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 17.

Talk about bad timing, right?

If you have been healthy and are able to donate blood, PLEASE visit one of RRVBC's other blood centers or donor drives ASAP, your blood is desperately needed right now!

Here's where you can make a blood donation today:

  • Rockford - 419 North Sixth Street from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Belvidere - 1740 South State Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Freeport - 461 East South Street from  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
