Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Chicago’s New Wizard of Oz Exhibit
There’s truly no place like home, and this fall, home just happens to be the Richard H. Driehaus Museum in downtown Chicago. Beginning November 13, you can experience “The Land of Oz: Beyond the Page,” a dazzling new exhibit inspired by the 1939 film that made Judy Garland a household name.
Step Inside the Magic of Oz

Inspired by the upcoming Wicked sequel, this installation transports fans back to the origins of the yellow brick road. The two-gallery experience immerses visitors in the film’s creative world, featuring original artifacts, concept art, and behind-the-scenes treasures that capture the spirit of L. Frank Baum’s classic story.
Rare Artifacts and Hollywood History
Curated by Antiques Roadshow appraiser Laura Woolley, the exhibit showcases highlights from the late Richard H. Driehaus’s private collection, including a replica of Dorothy’s ruby red slippers, a prototype of the flying monkey costume, and the Cowardly Lion’s medal of courage. You’ll even find watercolor concept paintings by the film’s production designer, Jack Smith Martin, revealing how Oz was first imagined in vivid color.
