Looking back, I do believe the 2020 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics at Olson Lake at Rock Cut State Park was the last public thing I did before the world shut down because of COVID last Spring.

In the past few weeks I have been wondering about the fate of the 2021 Polar Plunge, and now we finally have the answer.. it WILL happen this year, but it will be done VIRTUALLY.

If you're a frequent plunger and are bummed about missing the fun don't worry , the 2021 Polar Plunge will still be fun, you just have to make it that way!  Here's what won't change this year...

  • You will still create a plunging team and register online.
  • You will still need to collectively raise at least $100 for the Special Olympics of Illinois.
  • There will still be prizes for the team that raises the most money, has the best team costume, etc.
  • You will still need to submerge yourself in cold water.

In addition to raising pledge donations, you need to come up with a fun way for your team to get doused with cold water (COLD water is key). JB and I have decided we need to get our hands on a dunk tank to complete our plunge in this year, and that YOUR DONATIONS will determine who's going down in the tank, and who's throwing the balls to make it happen. This should be FUN!

Register your own plunging team now at soill.org/polar-plungestay tuned for Q98.5's donation link coming soon!
