For Malina's mom, Rachel Schoenrock, the night of March 1st was pretty normal except that her daughter seemed a little 'off', according to RockfordAdvocate.com.

Schoenrock made chili and was preparing a family dinner. But, she noticed her daughter seemed edgy.

“I asked my son if anything was wrong with Malina, and he said she was fine on the way home,” Schoenrock said. “So, I asked her. She said, ‘nothing.’ Not long after that, she ate and told me school was OK. But, she wouldn’t make eye contact with me. I told her, ‘If you want to talk later, we can.'”

Schoenrock is still waiting to have that conversation.

“When I went in to check on her, she was gone,” she said.
