Rockford to See First Frost of the Season This Week
I hate to say this, but I feel summer is over.
Sure, it officially ended weeks ago, but I have been against fully embracing fall as a season.
I get it—some folks love fall. The leaves turning color, busting out cable-knit sweaters, snuggling up to cozy fires, and pumpkin-flavored everything are the signs of a good time for some.
For me, miss me with all that noise.
So here I am in a pair of shorts, delivering the bad news: Our first frost of the season is days away.
Joey Marino at Eyewitness News:
Today (10/14) is going to mark the first day since April 24, where highs will peak below 60 degrees. This is what we typically feel in early November, not in the middle of October...The bigger headline however comes in Tuesday night into Wednesday as the Stateline's first freeze is likely.
It looks like I'm going to have to find the long pants.
This frost will be the first of many we'll get before the spring and summer of 2025.
So, how do we make the best of it? I guess I should enjoy the leaves, break out a sweater, get a fire going in the fireplace, and make something with pumpkin as the main ingredient.
That's because winter is coming to the Rockford area, and there's nothing we can do about it but be ready.
