Rockford High School Students Ask Locals To ‘Answer The Call’
A Rockford high school and some of their students are asking you to answer the call.
A contest called "Answer The Call" sponsored by the U.S. Army will award one group a $500 contribution to their charitable efforts.
Most of the finalists for the grand prize are from Wisconsin, with the exception of a group of students and staff at Rockford Christian High School.
They teamed with Helping Hands, a food pantry serving Machesney Park and Loves Park since 2003.
Here's how Rockford Christian answered the call:
During the COVID-19 pandemic there were more people in our community who fell into the “in need” catagory and the food donations were in short supply. Students at Rockford Christian organized a food drive over 2 days at the school. They organized a contact free drop off of the most needed supplies. over the 2 day drive they filled a school mini-bus with food and paper products and were able to deliver them to the food pantry. The “Helping Hands” food pantry reported it was the largest single gift/donation they had ever had. The students/staff and parents of Rockford Christian Schools in Rockford Illinois certainly “answered the call!” Thank you for considering this nomination.
Until now, Rockford Christian's humanitarian efforts went largely unnoticed.
A great way to support Helping Hands, and give these students and staff the credit they deserve, is to simply vote for Rockford Christian to win the $500 contribution.
