After missing the playoffs for the second season in a row and the worst season in Ice Hogs AHL history, this change almost seemed inevitable.

Not only was this a dismal season for the Ice Hogs, it was a first round playoff sweep of the Chicago Blackhawks. In spite of Ice Hogs head coach Ted Dent helping many players make the leap from the AHL to the NHL during his 10 years in Rockford, the Blackhawks organization has let him go.

"The Chicago Blackhawks thank Ted for all of his contributions throughout his tenure with the organization. He played a major role in helping a number of players reach the NHL level with the Chicago Blackhawks, many of whom became Stanley Cup champions. We wish Ted and his family the best." - Blackhawks General manager Stan Bowman

According to mystateline.com, that wasn't the only shake up within the Chicago Blackhawks organization. On Monday, the 'hawks assistant coach Mike Kitchen was also terminated.

No other information on replacing either coach was given.
