Sure, we should all be practicing social distancing. However, some people still have to go to work, or the grocery store, or pick up a prescription. For those dependent on Rockford Mass Transit, your fares have been waived thru April 1st.

The initiative is designed to reduce surface contact with fare boxes and increase more social distancing when boarding and alighting. Also to reduce cash and fare interactions at customer service windows according to RMTD.

Obviously if the trip isn't an emergency, they recommend staying home, but for those dependent riders, RMTD is trying to factor in both your health and safety as well as their employees. The side doors on the buses can be used to minimize contact with the driver and they recommend keeping 6 feet between you and other passengers. All other guidelines and schedules are still in tact.
