Camping season is upon us. Soon the kids will be out of school, you'll be ready for some much needed time away from work and you now have a legitimate excuse to have s'mores for dinner. Isn't summer fantastic?

Well, grab your marshmallows and start loading up the car with your sleeping bags, mosquito spray and tents because one of the best places to kick back and get sticky with dinner s'mores is right here in Rockford.

OnlyInYourState.com has named Rock Cut State Park one of the best places to camp in Illinois mentioning, "There are 200 premium Class A sites and 60 Class B sites. The campground has showers, toilets, and playground equipment. There is also a primitive cabin for rent."

Rock Cut has to be one of my favorite places in Rockford. When it's warm enough, my boyfriend and I take out the bike, cruise around, hike the trails, and sit by the lake.  I have yet to camp there but according to guest reviews the campsites and facilities are nice, there's something for everyone to do and it's perfect for an inexpensive getaway.

Other camp grounds and sites that made the list are:
