This might be the best food news of the year. Long-believed myths about cheese (and yogurt) are busted after 11-year study.

Cheese and yogurt lovers, it's time to rejoice. For as long as I can remember, we've been told that eating dairy products increases our risk of death, particularly from coronary heart disease (CHD), cerebrovascular disease, and cancer, because of dairy's relatively high levels of saturated fat.

"Yet evidence for any such link, especially among US adults, is inconsistent. With the exception of milk, which appears to increase the risk of CHD"  Congress of the European Society of Cardiology.

Get that cheese back in your diet, because it's helping you stay alive.

According to the European Society of Cardiology, cheese and yogurt protect against both total mortality, which means death from any cause and mortality from cerebrovascular causes. The same cannot be said about milk, it has the opposite effect, as you'll read by from Science Daily.

Over 20,000 adults were studied over the course of 11 years. The study found, consumption of cheese was associated with an 8% lower total mortality risk.
