Spring break-ups are an interesting phenomenon.  As we shake off the winter blues, there's more we leave behind than just the cold weather, relationships start to slowly unravel.

It's almost as if the colder months keep up glued at the hip with another person.  Then, when the sun comes out, so do the reasons for going your separate ways.

I read that most couples in the Midwest, including Illinois, tend to break up the most nearing the end of April.  It could be change in routine as the seasons change, we start "spring cleaning" more than just the unwanted items in our homes and want a fresh slate going into summer.

This sounds like relationships are more of a routine than a true connection.  Maybe that's why so many break-ups happen in Illinois?  It's a literal chore.

This is why I might be single at the age of 27.  I've had too many run-ins where people "aren't ready" for a real, long-term relationship and "can't explain why".  They're looking at it all wrong!  They're "putting in work" over enjoying time with someone they care about.  The Midwest Curse I call it.

Springtime is all about personal growth, too.  We feel way more inclined to make bold changes in our lives, find clarity in situations, and that, sadly, includes ending a connection we once thought was for forever.

Whether it's a desire to focus on yourself or knowing you're not on the same page with the other person, April is the unofficial cut-off month to switch things up in your life and make big moves.

Winter feels like it'll never end, and summer goes by in the blink of an eye.  We really don't get a chance to savor the moments when we crave it the most and always looking for the next best thing to look forward to.

Sometimes, that's a new person in our life or a better version of us.
