Spring Cleaning? Here’s Where to Donate Unwanted Items in Rockford
Spring cleaning hit me hard this year. I've gone through every drawer, shelf, and every inch of my closet to cleanse my apartment of all the unwanted items taking up space for no good reason.
I didn't realize how much stuff I was hanging onto that never saw the light of day! Instead of throwing it all in the trash, I sorted what was worth donating to local thrift stores to give a second chance in a new home. I hate seeing things end up in landfills, so I knew donating was an absolute must.

Thrifting is basically my #1 hobby, and if you ever need to know the best places to shop secondhand in the Rockford area, I gotchu! Wouldn't call myself a professional thrifter, but I do give great recommendations on the spots to hit up for clothing, home decor, office furniture, and trinkets.

As for donating? There are so many local spots to give your unwanted items to besides Goodwill and Salvation Army. They'll always get donations, so let's spread the love!
Spring Cleaning? Here’s Where to Donate Unwanted Items in Rockford
- Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity Restore
- Carpenter's Corner
- Rockford Rescue Mission
- Sharestuff
These are thrift stores we don't always think of when we're looking to find some unique stuff for our homes. They're also great places to donate your "trash" that could be someone else's "treasure".
Just a heads up: every location has different donation guidelines on what they accept. Some don't take clothing, mattresses, rugs, or hazardous materials. Make sure to check with each store before you show up and instantly get turned away.
