Today, red birds are dead birds; Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is willing to put Chicago beers, Eli's cheesecake, deep dish pizza and a donation to charity on it. But, the mayor of St. Louis isn't having any of it.

Emanuel wanted to place a traditional; friendly bet with Francis Slay on the Cubs-Cardinal series and Slay turned him down; according to Emanuel spokeswoman Kelley Quinn.

Really? Why would he do that? Seems like a very unsportsmanlike thing to do if you ask me. I don't even think I've ever heard of someone turning down one of these bets. But from what I understand, the Cardinals are the entire city's identity and to lose to the Cubs would be a travesty. If the Cards lose, the entire city loses.  Doesn't change the fact that I think Slay should take the bet; especially with that last name. Lighten up, Francis.

Go Cubs, go.
