When bad things happen, every person has a different way of coping. Some people find peace in prayer or time spent with loved ones. Others may get lost in a good book or turn to music as therapy.

Music has always been my getaway. Singing along at the top of my lungs to my favorite songs is always a great stress reliever for me, and in times like these, I really wish I played an instrument I could pour my emotions into.

The Rockford community is still in shock following Saturday's mass shooting at Don Carter Lanes, but one thing we know for sure is that the situation would have been far worse if it wasn't for the quick response by the brave men and women of the Rockford Police Department.

News of Saturday's tragedy went national and it has affected the hearts of many people that live outside our city's borders as well.

A Wisconsin resident named Nathaniel Carroll sent us a thank you video he made for the Rockford Police Department this morning, and I knew immediately that I had to share it with you...

Included with the video, Nathaniel said this;

I feel its so important that we recognize the brave men and women in law enforcement every opportunity we have. Not just during tragic events like what happened at Dan Carter Lanes, but every day. The officers in the Rockford police department were willing to risk their safety for the lives of those citizens at the bowling alley and I feel its so important they understand how much they are appreciated. Not just by the Rockford community, but across America.

I couldn't have said it better, Nathaniel. Thank you.
