Tearful Teacher Of The Week is Every Teacher During COVID-19 Pandemic
Congratulations to Mrs. Fuentes from Kinnikinnick Elementary School in Roscoe, she is 97ZOK's new Teacher Of The Week.
In just a few minutes on the phone with Mrs. Fuentes, we could feel how much she misses being in the classroom with her students. The COVID-19 pandemic has turned the school year upside down. No matter how 'set-up' schools and districts are for e-learning, nothing can take away the sting of missing of teachers missing their 'kids' and students missing their teacher.
As Teacher Of The Week, Mrs. Fuentes received a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes, flowers from Broadway Florist and a gift card from Oriental Trading Company.
Mrs. Fuentes was nominated for Teacher Of The Week by Aiesha and Gabriella Dainty, they said:
My daughter and I would like to nominate Mrs. Fuentes for Teacher of the Week. Words that make us think of Mrs. Fuentes are: dedicated, empathetic, determined, cheerleader, creative, encourager, and kind.
Mrs. Fuentes has the ability to understand students’ struggles while she partners with them to push past barriers. She does this in such a loving and encouraging way! She is always willing to go the extra mile, and I see that during every interaction with her. For example, my daughter needed some extra help being organized at school, and Mrs. Fuentes sat down with her to develop a plan together. Over the last two years, I have seen my daughter’s confidence grow, and Mrs. Fuentes has played (and continues to play) a major role in this growth. I don’t have enough words to say how truly thankful we are for Mrs. Fuentes! She most definitely deserves this recognition and all that comes with it!
