The Virginia Shooting and the Problem with Social Media [VIDEO]

In the latest 'One More Thing' video series, I share what I detest most about social media and how the murder of two people on live TV fed that sometimes ugly machine.

So many people on the various forms of social media crave 'going viral', having there post be seen by millions. Is that desire driven by their own narcissistic tendencies or is that millions feast on it so regularly that we're driven to that desire? Whatever the reason, it drove Alison Parker and Adam Ward's killer to video his crime and then share it on his social media sites... driven by a need for his cause to go 'viral.' And the masses have gobbled it up. Violent, disturbing, hate-filled content is viewed and shared by tens of millions every day and little-by-little it will eat away at your soul.

I wish a stronger desire existed for something entirely different to 'go viral'...
