We live in a world now where thieves will steal just about anything that isn't nailed down. And even that won't deter criminals anymore.

In the middle of the night, two large inflatable waterslides totaling $1300 were stolen from two different front yards in Machesney Park, according to wifr.com.

For Amy Smith and Julia Lozzio, the mothers of each family, this theft hurts in an entirely different kind of way. Their children are incredibly hurt. They can't understand why someone would steal from them. Amy Smith just bought the slide for her son's 4th birthday.

"I used to love it here in Machesney Park, and now, I just want to leave. To look at your kids in the morning when they wake up and they want to go out on the slide and then you have to explain that someone stole it. They don't understand what that means. It's sad," says Smith.

For Julia Lozzio, her daughter Maya had only gotten to play on it a few times before thieves struck in the middle of the night.

The Winnebago Sherif's Department says that if the thieves are caught, they will be charged with felonies because of the prices of the slides.
