The Appetizer Rockford Restaurants Need to Add to Menus Now
Just this past week, I had the chance to spend five days in Alaska.
It is not exactly the first place I would vacation, but it is genuinely one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
I like to try as many different foods (and beers) as possible besides taking a look at the sights.
One day I made my way over to a bar/restaurant called Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse.
It's not the greatest name in the world for an eatery, but something they had on the menu got me thinking that a restaurant in Rockford might need to attempt to emulate it.
On the menu at Humpy's, they offer a little something called Chowder Fries, and it's exactly as it sounds.
With Anchorage being a central salmon hot spot, it's in plenty of dishes, including the Chowder at Humpy's.
Based on Yelp reviewers, the Salmon Chowder at the restaurant is the goods.
Someone at Humpy's must've thought, "What if we took the chowder and poured it on top of a pile of fries and called it an appetizer?"
I love trying food I have never had before, so when I read the description of the Chowder Fries on the Humpy's menu, I was hooked.
I never thought a combination of Chowder and fries would be so delicious.
That was until it dawned on me that potato was one of the main components in a chowder.
Realizing fries are made of the same thing is a "Obviously, that totally works" moment.
I'd tell you to try them in person at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse, but that's a huge ask.
Then again, maybe we can find a Rockford area restaurant to give Chowder Fries a whirl.
