Many college students are picking public universities due to lower tuition, so U of I officials believe freezing tuition for another year will help the school stay competitive, according to wrex.com.

U of I president is proposing the tuition freeze at all campuses; Chicago, Springfield and Urbana-Champaign. Should the freeze happen, tuition at the Urbana-Champaign campus will be about $12,000 a year.
