There's no doubt that 2020 has been a BRUTAL year for all, but it has been beyond devastating for so many Rockford-area families.

Many households are suffering an extreme loss of income and literally cannot make ends meet without some help. The Salvation Army of Winnebago County is currently helping about 16,000 local families, when they typically serve about 7,000 families each year.

To say the need for donations this year is greater than ever, seems like a vast understatement. The need for your generosity this holiday season is CRITICAL.

Just think about this for a second, The Salvation Army of Winnebago County is currently serving 16,000 families. Consider each family has more than one child a part of it, and we have WAY MORE than 16,000 toys we need to collect during the annual Q98.5 12 Hours of Salvation Army Toy Drive on December 4, 2020. The task may seem daunting, but I fully believe the generosity of the Rockford community will shine through during this immense time of need!

With such a big task ahead of us, and during a time when hanging out in a big, jolly group is majorly frowned upon, we have started the toy collecting for 2020 early. You can drop off toys for donation right now at Lou Bachrodt Automall by the CherryVale Mall, you can give a monetary donation online, and starting Friday November 13, 2020, you can drop off toys to donate at all Walgreens locations in the Rockford area!

For those that are wondering, yes, we still be holding our annual 12 Hours of Salvation Army Toy Drive at the Lou Bachrodt Automall on Friday, December 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but the event will be more of a drive-thru this year.

Please remember no toy or monetary donation is too small, and every single one of them will provide joy for local families that really need a reason to smile this Christmas. Please help us help our neighbors in need this holiday season, and may God bless you all!
