An Illinois police officer had a split-second decision to make. He had to stop a wrong way DUI suspect from hurting others. He ended up putting himself in harms way to achieve that goal.

Fox 32 in Chicago shared this harrowing story of a Wauconda, Illinois police officer Jon Finze. A driver had traveled 5 miles in the wrong lane endangering approaching traffic. After attempting to convince the driver to stop on his own, the officer knew something else must be done. He made the decision to use his vehicle as a barrier to get the fleeing car stopped.

ABC 7 in Chicago reports that the fleeing suspect had his license revoked for 3 prior DUI's prior to this incident.

Officer Finze received minor injuries while his police dog was also under observation for possible treatment of injuries according to additional details included in their report.

The suspect, Anthony D. Smith of Wauconda, was jailed on $75,000 bond with a reported court date of this Friday according to ABC News 7. As for the officer, what an admirable length he was willing to go to try and protect others on the road that night.
