Why You Should Never Wear a Hair Tie on Your Wrist [VIDEO]
Ladies, we've all done this- you get home from the gym; sit down to relax and pull the hair tie from your sweaty hair and as you're feeling a slight sense of relief from getting that workout out of the way, you slip the hair tie on your wrist and probably didn't even notice. Then after a while you do start to notice something - that the hair tie is starting to cut off your circulation, so you pull the hair tie off and it left a nice; little indent in your skin. Wonderful.
That used to be the worst thing I thought could happen from having a hair tie wrapped around my wrist. Turns out it's not; it can get much worse.
Audree Kopp thought she had a spider bite when she first noticed a lump on her wrist. She decided to go to the doctor, who told her it was nothing, and sent her home with antibiotics. When she woke up the next day it was much bigger, about the size of a quarter, and it was so painful that she decided to go to the ER. That's when the doctor discovered that her arm was infected with three different bacteria that she got from wearing two-day-old glittery hair ties.
I don't know about you, but I am definitely going to be more aware of where I put my hair ties from now on. I complain a lot about losing those things but it's not worth risking my health and well being over something that I can just buy more of. If you do happen to leave one on your wrist because it's simply a habit, make sure that when you wash your hands that you wash the tie as well.
