They say all hearts want to go home for Christmas, and I couldn't agree with that statement more.

So, just imagine this for a moment...It's the Christmas season and you have found yourself lost or abandoned by the family you loved, and now you are in a cage in a strange place, that takes very good care of you, but doesn't have a comfy spot or lap to call your own.

I will be the first to admit that I have a super soft spot in my heart for animals, and thinking about lonely pets in a cage at Christmas absolutely breaks my heart.

A couple of times a year, the BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors Empty The Shelters adoption events all across the nation, and this week Winnebago County Animal Services will be hosting BISSELL's 'Empty The Shelters Holiday Hope Event'!

If your kids have been begging for a pet for Christmas, give them an early gift and bring them to Winnebago County Animal Services this Wednesday through Saturday, (Dec 9-12), to pick out their new furry best friend!

Please keep in mind, the adoption fees may be discounted during the Holiday Hope event, but the adoption process remains the same. You must have a pre-approved adoption application, and you can get that filled out right now at wcasrock.org. One more tip, keep a close eye on the list of adoptable animals on their website too, it does change often, but it may help narrow down the search for the perfect pet for you.
