This just in, truck stop diners; NOT just for truckers.

Especially when you consider one of those places is supposedly one of the best for food regardless.

I mean, The Pine Cone Cafe was just dubbed as one of the restaurants offering the Best Truck Stop Eats in America.

LoveFood:

When heading up l-94 and Highway 26, it's worth holding out for the Pine Cone Travel Plaza at exit 267, which, for a truck stop, has a lot of fans. Choose the eggs Benedict or the steak and eggs, then stock up on cream puffs, cookies and éclairs for your onward journey.

EDIT: LoveFood goofed. According to a reader, "that's the pine cone truck stop in Johnson creek Wisconsin not the pine cone cafe in land o lakes Wisconsin. They are a couple hundred miles apart."

Those "fans" are really serious about the grub at The Pine Cone Cafe.

If you've been reading my articles you know I'm a sucker for a good food challenge.

I'm in no way shape or form a competitive eater but I did take down the Timothy O'Tooles Big Timmy Burger Challenge years ago, and I tried (& failed) to take down The Don at Mamma Mia's in Rockford.

So when I saw The Pine Cone Cafe also has its own food challenge I thought "Man, this place is not only one of the best for truck stop eats in America but they also have the Ultimate Omelet Challenge on the menu?"

Let's go! Plenty of people have tried, and I'm sure many have failed but it's all about the experience.

According to Pine Cone Cafe on Facebook, the Ultimate Omelet Challenge consists of:

  • a 12 egg omelet
  • 3 pounds of ingredients
  • 8 ounces of gravy
  • 1 pound of hash browns
  • 2 pancakes
  • & one order of toast

The reward? If you finish, you get your meal for free and your picture on the wall of fame. Not a bad deal.

The Pine Cone Cafe is located at 4187 County Road B in Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin.
