Would You Want This Ridiculous Piece of Michael Jordan Memorabilia
There was a time that I owned a pretty good stash of Michael Jordan memorabilia. Most of it had no big money value. Am I wrong that this item won't either?
In the 90s EVERYONE was a Michael Jordan fan. the bigger the fan, the bigger amounts of money we spent on things bearing his name, number or likeness.
Michael Jordan collectibles is a BIG MONEY industry
For more than 30 years, that fact has never changed. There is still tremendous value in the Michael Jordan brand.
Even the things that don't bear his name, number or likeness,
In the case of this item, it may hold some of MJ's DNA.
Why would anyone spend big money on this?
Here's the backstory on this very odd piece of Michael Jordan memorabilia:
Last year, at the Biltmore Resort in Arizona, a woman had the good fortune of meeting Michael Jordan who was in town for a charity golf event.
He was relaxing at the resort smoking a cigar (something he does several times a day) and this woman asked if he'd take a photo with her. Micheal obliged, put his cigar in an ashtray and posed for the photo. Then, he just walked away and left the cigar behind.
She held onto the half-smoked stub of a cigar AND the ashtray too and has now put it on the auction block
According to the auction website, the cigar is an Olivia V Melanio, naturally a top-of-the-line cigar, manufactured in Nicaragua and made with Cuban seeds.
I looked it up, the cigars cost about $10 each. The thing is half smoked and it's sitting in a stolen ashtray.
Where would you even display this?
"Here on my mantle is a cigar that was once in Michael Jordan's mouth and now it's mine."
The auction just opened and the starting bid for this 'item' is $500.
