10 Famous Attractions in Illinois Actually Worth Visiting

Illinois has no shortage of attractions, but some stand out more than others.

The Adler Planetarium is one of my favorite museums in Chicago. I'm not usually the first to get excited about typical Chicago tourist spots, but the Adler Planetarium? That’s a whole different story.

Tucked away on its own little island in Lake Michigan, it offers stunning views of the Chicago skyline and the lakefront, making it a must-see for any visitor.

I had no idea how much I'd enjoy Alder until I went on a date.  Whether you're snapping photos of the city from the outdoor terrace or gazing at the stars from inside, it’s a truly unique experience.

Beyond the Adler, there are plenty of other attractions around Illinois totally worth exploring.  They're not the "conventional" Chicago hotspots, though.

Starved Rock State Park and Garden of the Gods are nature lovers' dreams with picturesque trails, panoramic views and waterfalls.

The Museum of Science and Industry is another Chicago gem, full of interactive exhibits that make learning fun for everyone of all ages!
