Making New Year's Resolutions is way more fun when you get to eat and drink while you do it.

For the past five years my friends and family have been coming over to my parents' house for my New Year's Eve Resolution brunch.

The only requirement for the party is to bring a food or drink that represents your resolution. Then I make you sit in front of my computer and tell everyone the resolution, unless you're my sister, who somehow gets out of the video all the time.

It's one of my favorite parties because you never know what people are going to come up with.

You can totally throw a resolution brunch, too. Here are the resolutions I've had for the past five years and what I brought to give you some ideas.

2012: To get out of my comfort zone, I made cheesecake because I never make it and it's hard. I also wanted to "be the best Michelle," and so I brought bubbly champagne because the best Michelle is bubbly.

2013: To be more "put together," I set up a cupcake bar and a mimosa bar, so everyone could put together their cupcakes and drinks.

2014: That year I was trying to save some money, so I made a cake that looked like a piggy bank filled with chocolate coins.

2015: Last year, I wanted to move out of my parents' house to a new road, so I made rocky road brownies.

2016: This year I want to go on an airplane so I made copy-cat Egg McMuffins because they don't give you food on planes anymore and you have to buy breakfast before you fly, and I know where all the McDonald's locations are in O'Hare.
