What will it take for more drivers in Illinois to understand the importance of getting over when approaching flashing lights on a vehicle?

April was a busy month for police in Illinois. Not only was it Illinois Distracted Driving Awareness Month but officers were paying extra attention to Scott's Law violators, which is also known as The Move Over Law.

Illinois sheriff deputies in 36 counties issued 2,002 total in April, according to WREX, including 441 for Scott's Law violations. Other violations included distracted driving, speeding, and "other"... whatever that it.

Through the month of April, deputies issued 441 Scott’s Law violations in 36 counties. 827 tickets were issued for speeding, 289 for using electronic devices and 425 other violations.

Sheriff Departments in Illinois are on the lookout and extra attentive for Scott's Law violations after two troopers were killed while tending to vehicles on the sides of highways.
