[UPDATE] Suspect Charged with Murder Inside Machesney Park Bar
[UPDATE 10/6 8:27 p.m.] A Rockford man has been charged with murder in the shooting at a Machesney Park Bar.
Kenneth J. Johnson, 28, is charged with eight counts of first-degree murder and single counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and no FOID, according to rockrivertimes.com.
[10/6 4:50 p.m.] A shooting early Sunday, inside a Machesney Park bar, has left one man dead and another one injured.
The shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. during a birthday party at Cronies Grill located at 9032 N. Second St. Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies were the first on the scene and reported that a fight had broken out during the party. They found one man, wounded and lying on the dance floor, who later died in a local hospital. Another man was treated for a gunshot wound to his arm, according to rockrivertimes.com.
No names have been released. There's has been no announcement from the sheriff's department regarding any suspects in their ongoing investigation.
