Bon-Ton Announces At Least 40 Store Closures Just Before The Holidays
Bon-Ton Stores Inc. announced they will close some of their stores.
The plan is to close at least 40 stores through 2018, and MSN Money says the closures "would represent the shutdown of about a sixth of Bon-Ton's 260 department stores."
While USA Today says Bon-Ton "the parent company of Boston Store, Younkers and other department store brands, has lost money for the last six years," resulting in over $135M in losses.
In Rockford, Bergner's at the CherryVale Mall is owned by Bon-Ton. They also have a distribution center at 4650 Shepherd Trail.
Bon-Ton has yet to announce which of the 40 stores they plan to close.
