Byron Woman Is Making Ornaments to Raise Money for Miss Carly’s

I came across something on Facebook last week that I thought was beyond awesome, and immediately had me wanting to help.

A friend of mine from high school named Melani has decided to make and sell ornaments for Miss Carly's in Rockford, but my favorite part of this story is that the response she has got from the community who want to buy these ornaments has been nothing short of amazing.

We all know Miss Carly's does incredible things for the homeless community in the 815 and that they always need our help and generosity to continue their mission, but I wanted to know exactly what inspired Melani to take on such an overwhelming task in the midst of working full time, from home, while her youngest son does remote learning. Here is what she told me;

We have always brought donations to Miss Carly’s and I have followed her page for a few years. She is such an inspiration to our community! Last Easter my 10yr old wanted to make Easter baskets for her and the kids that visit Miss Carly’s. That is what inspired me to do MORE! In July my oldest joined the Air Force. I bought a cricut to help keep my mind off missing him. I began to sell Air Force Ornaments. I had been thinking about what we could do for Miss Carly’s this Christmas and that is when I had the idea to try to increase the amount I was able to donate by giving my time making these! I also hope having these hang on trees will remind people to think of those less fortunate. I hope people keep Miss Carly in mind this Christmas and all year long. She is amazing but needs the support of our community to continue doing what she does!

Due to the amazing generosity of the Stateline community, Melani has already donated a check for $700 to Miss Carly's from the sales of these gorgeous ornaments, but she wants to do so much more!

Melani will then respond with price and delivery details. Ornament prices are: 1 for $6, 2 or more $5, and if you are ordering 4 or more Melani will deliver them. Shipping or door pick up available.
