As I sit here wearing my new Costco furry vest my mom insisted buying me over the weekend, I'm sad to break the news about a recall that could seriously impact Costco runs this Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you recently grabbed a bottle (or ten) of Kirkland Prosecco for your holiday parties, maybe you stocked up because it's only eight bucks, yeah?  Well, you better have a backup brand in the fridge because it's been recalled.

Costco Recalls Nearly One Million Prosecco Bottles

Don't gift it, pop it, or drink it.  On November 6th, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice for the Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG.  The problem?  The bottles can break or shatter at any given moment.  This is a major safety hazard.

Which bottles have been recalled?

UPC 196633883742 and Costco Item Number 1879870. They come in a green bottle with a purple foil top and a purple label—the one a lot of us probably have in our fridge right now.  941,400+ bottles are part of this recall.

The Distributor, F&F Fine Wines International Inc. said they've received 10 reports of bottles shattering, with one person who was injured.  The recall was actually reissued because the shattering continued.  These bottles were originally being sold all across the Midwest in Costco stores, including Illinois, between April & August of 2025.

• Kentucky
• Michigan
• Minnesota
• Missouri
• North Dakota
• Nebraska
• Ohio
• South Dakota
• Wisconsin

If you still have one of these Prosecco bottles in your kitchen, keep it far away from heat.  Costco will give you a full refund even if you don't have a receipt.
