The first candidate to announce their candidacy for Rockford's Mayor is a Republican who was just elected to City Council last year.

6th Ward Alderwoman Pam Connell tells mystateline.com that she's seeking to replace Mayor Larry Morrissey. At present, Mayor Morrissey has not stated wether or not he'll seek a fourth term.

Pam serves as president of an association raising public awareness level of FBI activities and is also a chairperson for Rockford Airfest.

There's still an ongoing effort to urge Senator Dave Syverson to run even though he remains focused on winning State Senate reelection.

Rockford's Mayoral election is held next April.
