When I think of junk food, I rarely consider something with the word "skinny" in the title.

"Skinny." when it comes to food, usually takes out all of the "junk" in junk food. What you have left is "skinny food."

For example, I look at Funyuns, Sour Patch Kids, Kit Kat, and Mini-Doughnuts as junk food. Delicious, tasty, and fattening junk food.

I don't think Skinny Pop counts as junk food. Not like I'd turn down a handful of Skinny Pop popcorn, it's just not what I want when I'm lunging for junk food.

Anyway, in honor of National Junk Food Day, which is today, July 21, Zippia put together a state-by-state look at the most popular junk food.

While Wisconsin goes in on Twix, we here in Illinois like Skinny Pop popcorn. Really? In a state known for pizza and hot dogs, we reach for health-conscious popcorn?

How did we get here? Well, Zippia says they looked at Google Trends and "determined which states were the most avid fans of each snack. We examined 45 different favorite snacks, given us a wide range of beloved foods."

So wait, Skinny Pop is a "beloved food?" Also, a "wide range?" If we, Illinoisians, are considering Skinny Pop as our favorite junk food, I'm going to need to reconsider everything.

Everything has been a lie and what I thought was junk food is actually just skinny food. Now, someone get me a Twix.
