If you can't find a close parking spot while out shopping on Black Friday your best bet is to enjoy a nice walk. Just like last year, Secretary of State Jesse White says police will be doing stings on Black Friday looks handicap space abusers. Rockford is included in this operation, according to MyStateline.com.

Police will enforce the Parking Program for Persons with Disabilities at shopping centers in Aurora, Bloomington, Carbondale, Chicago, Fairview Heights, Oak Brook, Orland Park, Peoria, Rockford, Schaumburg and Springfield on Black Friday, November 23rd.

White said they won't be out there looking to write tickets but to make sure handicap parking spaces are available to those who need them. Keep in mind, there are hefty fines attached for not only vehicles illegally park in handicap spaces, but also for misusing handicap placards.

Parking illegally in a space reserved for people with disabilities means a possible driver’s license suspension and a hefty fine, money which could otherwise be used on gifts... Drivers caught misusing a placard face a six-month driver’s license suspension and a $600 fine.

Be smart, be aware, and be courteous during your Black Friday shopping adventures.
