Considering this is one of the most brutal schools to get into in America, free tuition will make it hurt less now.

When I was a graduating senior, the thought of going to the University of Chicago was the furthest thing from my mind. I didn’t think I had a chance to get in, and if I had applied, it would’ve confirmed what I knew all along: only the best and brightest get in.

They are ranked among the toughest schools to get accepted to, so even if you were a real whiz at just about everything school-related, you still might get a denial letter.

What if, though, you got in and then found how much it cost, which by the way isn’t cheap, and had to find a cheaper option?

It does happen, and the University of Chicago doesn’t want to turn away potential students who can afford to attend there.

That’s why they announced yesterday that they will start offering free tuition to undergraduate students from families earning under $250,000.

The program starts next fall and works especially well for families earning less than $125,000. That’s because, besides free tuition, those students also get

School officials say students need to focus more on learning and less on the financial aspects of attending a prestigious school like the University of Chicago.

I think it’s great that they want to make attending school less confusing and more predictable. If only things could be like that everywhere else.
