I feel bad for this year's Groundhog Day. It totally got overshadowed by the Super Bowl. Don't get me wrong, I get why. But I just have a special place in my heart for Groundhogs day. I think the groundhogs are so cute and I love that they get their time to shine.

So every year there's a main groundhog everyone looks to for the answer and his name is Punxsatawney Phil from Pennsylvania. Phil didn't see his shadow this year, which means we'll see an early Spring. Here's how that went down -

But let's not forget where we live. Does an early Spring really sound likely for Illinois? Our very own groundhog Woodstock Willie thinks not. According to The Patch -

In Woodstock on Groundhogs Day, Woodstock Willie poked his head out from his tree trunk perch and spotted his shadow.

The observation means the groundhog thinks we will have six more weeks of winter. The prediction came on a day when temps reached.

So I don't know about you but I trust a Midwestern groundhog when predicting Illinois weather.
