There was recently a robbery in Illinois that featured some of the most unusual stolen items I've heard about in a long time.
Funko Pop Robbery In Illinois
I think most people have some sort of thing that they collect. For me, it's music like CDs and vinyl. One of the most popular collectibles out there now is Funko Pops. They are kind of like a new version of bobbleheads. They are designed after famous people in pop culture. I have a couple, but it hasn't become a "thing" for me yet. They can be worth a lot of money.

Recently, a couple in Joliet went to visit a friend in his apartment. Apparently, they were there to pick up an item they forgot. That was a lie. The victim has an incredible Funko Pop collection. The suspects pulled out garbage bags and started to fill them with the collectibles. That had to freak the owner out because any damage would cause them to lose value.
The victim tried to unsuccessfully stop them. He called the police. The suspects took off in an Uber, so the cops were able to track them down fairly quickly. The officers recovered the Funko Pops, which were valued at $5,000.

According to Patch...
Demetrious Greene, who committed a reckless homicide along Larkin Avenue eight years ago this week, has started off 2026 with a felony arrest by the Joliet Police Department involving the theft of several Funko Pop figures worth an estimated $5,000, the agency revealed in Tuesday's press release.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 4:18 p.m. Jan. 3, officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Marble Street for a theft. Greene, now 41, of Joliet and Stacey Jones, 46, who also goes by the alias of Stacey Ward, entered the apartment under the pretense of retrieving a personal item, English said.
"Once inside, it is alleged that Greene and Jones began placing collectible Funko Pop figurines into garbage bags, despite being told by the male tenant to stop and leave," English said.
