After 25 Years of Business, One Rockford Bar is Preparing to Say Goodbye

Oscar's Pub and Grill in Rockford is getting ready to celebrate its 25th anniversary with an announcement many of us didn't see coming.

When I was single and in my mid 20s, Oscar's Pub and Grill was THE place to go for a fun night out in Rockford.

In fact, my friends and I spent so much time (and money) there that when we showed up and found a line out the door, Oscar's staff would let us in through the side entrance.

I met so many cool people and have so many fond memories of time spent at Oscar's Pub and Grill, so I was sad to see this announcement on social media today.

Oscar's Pub and Grill is Closing

In 2001, Brad Fosberg opened Oscar's Pub and Grill in Rockford, and now, 25 years later, both he and the bar are preparing to say goodbye..

On June 2, 2026, Oscar's Pub and Grill posted this photo on Facebook, with the caption: "Come join us for one more Oscar’s celebration. We are excited to see you June 13th"

When I first saw that photo, I was hoping it was just a party to celebrate Brad Fosberg's contributions to the Rockford community, then I saw the "and Oscar's is closing its doors" line.

Unfortunately, it has been several years since I last enjoyed a meal or drinks at Oscar's Pub and Grill, but I'm still bummed to see the Oscar's era come to an end.

Will Oscar's transform into a new pub with a new name and vibe? No announcements have been made about the future of the space, or when the last official day of business is, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
