Krispy Kreme Donuts are Returning to the Area, Diabetes Ensues

The question you must ask yourself while you are yearning for a bite of these soft, warm pieces of heaven is; how far are you willing to drive for satisfaction?

Quite possibly the best doughnut in the world is returning to Chicagoland. While I wish I could say that a Krispy Kreme franchise was coming to Rockford, I can't. You will have to drive to 17815 S. Halsted Street in Homewood, IL., 25 miles from Chicago. Construction just began, according to wgntv.com, and the store is scheduled to open in November. But wait, there's more good news.

There are plans for 8 Cook County Krispy Kreme locations and even more in the greater Chicagoland area. For a brief period, Krispy Kreme doughnuts were trucked into several Rockford gas stations but that's been long gone. If they can have locations in several other countries and territories, including Japan, Bangladesh, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabi, clearly someone needs to be reminded that we aren't afraid of type 2 diabetes in Rockford.
