Loves Park City Hall schedules medication collection drive.

Environment

Do you remember back in the day, when you could throw anything away? All you had to do was put it out on the curb and the garbage man would take it to the dump.

Then we learned that was not a good idea and should figure out a better way to protect our environment,

Nowadays, you have to know all the special regulations for trash. Each week, I see things left behind after garbage day because someone did not pay attention to the rules. Then the item sits out there for weeks.

For example, like a television. You can not just toss them out like trash. They have to be recycled at a specific location. Plus, it costs money to do.

Worth It

I definitely think it is worth it. We do not want a bunch of electronic devices stuffed into landfills.

Now, you have to pay attention and know the rules. Take these special items to the assigned recycling event or location.

How To Get Rid Of Medication

Another thing that needs to be disposed of properly is medication. It is not good to take expired or unused medicine not prescribed to you by your doctor.

According to the City of Loves Park Facebook page...

"Turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 9:00 AM to Noon at Loves Park City Hall, 100 Heart Blvd., Loves Park, IL 61111. Prevent Accidental Poisonings, Overdoses, Misuse, Abuse, and Toxic Water. Accepting: Prescription, Over-the-Counter, Pet Medication, Inhalers, Mercury Thermometers, etc."
