My Day as a Zombie Waitress on ‘The Deadersons’

Who knew getting made up to be a zombie would feel so glamorous?

Yesterday I spent the afternoon all decked out in green and black and I loved every second of it.

Wyatt Elliott is the director of the zombie sitcom, 'The Deadersons.' Last week he asked if I would want to try my hand at being a zombie for a few hours and act as a waitress in one of their upcoming episodes.

Of course, I said yes, and figured it wouldn't be too difficult since I spent the better part of four years as a real life waitress.

First things first, I needed to be zombie-d.

Kris Williamson is the creator of 'The Deadersons," and she does so much more than writing it. She is the force behind the makeup, the wardrobe, the scheduling, and of course she is the brains of the whole show.

After Kris made me up like a zombie, which was probably the best contouring job ever... I mean look at those zombie cheekbones... I asked her how the concept for the show was born.

Kris pretty much had the best answer ever. She dreamed up 'The Deadersons' while she was in the hospital on pain medication. She said she kept dozing off and waking up and thought, "wouldn't it be cool if there was a TV show about a family of zombies?"

Now there is, and 'The Deadersons' is pretty great. If you've never seen an episode, you might think it's scary or horror-like, and you'd be wrong. It's your usual sitcom, but the main characters are zombies.

'The Deadersons' is in its second season, the first episode premiered last June, and this season they are loaded with special guests including the actor who played Eddie Munster on 'The Munsters.'

While on set yesterday, I got to witness the zombie makeup process, meet the cast and play an angry waitress. I can't wait to see the final product!

Seriously, I had a blast and I wish I could wear zombie makeup forever.
