Illinoisans Are The Biggest Lovers Of This Popular Pasta Dish

When you thought Illinoisans loved deep-dish pizza the most, we've been searching Google for a different type of food as of lately.

They say that you can't visit Illinois and NOT try these five iconic foods.

• Chicago-Style Vienna Beef Hot Dog

• Italian Beef Sandwich

• Chicago-Style Popcorn

• Deep Dish Pizza

• The Horseshoe Sandwich

Makin' me hungry over here, yum!  There are obviously plenty of other foods you could add to the list like a big ol' pork tenderloin.  Don't even get me started - over on Montague Street in Rockford is where I found one of the best pork tenderloins at Benny's Dariette.  A MUST TRY!

As of lately, us Illinois foodies have been Googling one food in particular that has me a little confused.  Why are we searching for this pasta dish so much?!

Illinoisans Are The Biggest Lovers Of This Delicious Pasta

I did the math so you didn't have to.  It's not spaghetti, penne, fettuccine, or ziti.

National Tortellini Day is coming up this month on Tuesday, February 13th and we're just getting prepared to outshine all of our family members in the kitchen.

"The study can reveal that Illinois are amongst the biggest lovers of tortellini, averaging a search volume of 69 for the popular dish. Whether it be filling with ham, white meat or parmesan cheese, The Prairie State just can’t seem to get enough." [Betway]

New York, Massachusetts, and California searched for Tortellini far more than Illinois did, but we made it in the top 4 "Tortellini Lovin' States"!

So, if you're looking to whip up something new in the kitchen, maybe tortellini is in your near future.  I also wouldn't mind if someone wanted to send some my way, just sayin'.
