One of my most dreaded chores in life is taking down my Christmas decorations and tree each year. Yes, I have A LOT to take down and put away, but that is not the reason I hate doing it. I hate the boredom and blah it leaves behind. I miss the lights and the glitter. I miss the feeling of the holiday season, but every year I work through it and get back to "normal" eventually.

My point in bringing up my post-holiday blues is this; if you too have taken down your holiday decorations and have a once-live Christmas tree to get rid of, the time to do it is now. Rock River Disposal will be picking  up Christmas trees placed on the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage day January 4, 2021 through Thursday, January 14, 2021.

There are a couple of things you need to remember/do before taking your tree to the curb though...

  • Pickup service is only available to Rock River Disposal customers that live within the City of Rockford limits.
  • All stands, lights, ornaments and decorations much be removed
  • If the tree is taller than 4 feet, it MUST be cut in half before you place it on the curb

Along with Christmas trees, Rock River Disposal will also be collecting yard waste for a limited time. Here's more must-do's to follow  from the City of Rockford;
