The city of Rockford launched a new app to help citizens be informed about winter weather conditions.

Since I get up and go to work early, when it's bad outside, I always get messages from family and friends asking about weather updates and road conditions

Now the city of Rockford can help with that. From their Facebook page.

"SNOW AND ICE APP: We're excited to launch a new app to help citizens during the winter season. The City’s Snow and Ice app provide information on snow emergencies, odd/even parking rules and a residential progress map, which shows if routes have been completed, are in progress or haven’t been started yet. To download the app to a phone, visit HERE. Users will need to provide an email address for the download; however, users will not receive any emails from the City as a result. Residents can also sign up to receive text alerts about our snow operations by texting ROCKFORDSNOW to 888777."

I think this would be worth checking out.
