We may still be a couple of months away from the deadline for Rockford to make their official recommendation to the Illinois Gaming Board about where they would like to see a new casino built in our city, but it's becoming more clear every day where many governing bodies in our community believe it should be.

According to Tuesday night's press release from the Rockford Park District;

Tonight, the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners approved a resolution of support for the proposed Hard Rock Casino in Rockford.

In addition to the resolution of support, the District has also been named a philanthropy partner for Hard Rock Casino Rockford because of the District’s commitment to improve the quality of life for all citizens and to unite our diverse community through the power of play and music.

What exactly will this partnership between the Rockford Park District and Hard Rock Casino Rockford bring to the citizens of this city? According to WIFR;

Hard Rock Casino has committed to help fund the outdoor amphitheater at Levings Park, the expansion of the Washington Park Community Center, venue improvements at Sinnissippi Music Shell and ongoing support of neighborhood youth programs.

The Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners isn't the only board to step up in support of a casino being built in the I-90 corridor location in Rockford. WREX reports that Winnebago County's Economic Development Committee voted to pass a resolution to recommend the I-90 corridor location become the future site of the casino, and the Loves Park City Council and the Machesney Park Village Board have also recommended the I-90 corridor site.

October 25, 2019, is the deadline for Rockford’s recommendation to the Illinois Gaming Board, and that board will ultimately choose where a casino will be built in Rockford.
