Rockford Vaccine Boosters. Who? What? Where? And When?
Dr. Dennis Norem has been a regular guest on WROK's morning show ever since the pandemic began WAY back in March of 2020. He joins us every Monday morning at 7:05 to give us the latest on COVID-19. That has included, over the last few months, the most recent news on the COVID-19 vaccines.
The best part about having Dr. Norem on the show is that while not only is he very knowledgeable on the topic, he also has been practicing medicine in the Rockford area for decades so he knows what is going on locally as well as nationally.
His latest visit to the show was on the heels of the CDC expanding eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots. It basicall breaks down into two groups. Those that initially received the Pfizer or Moderna shot and those that received the Johnson and Johnson shot.
It's pretty simple for those that received the Johnson and Johnson shot. Anyone over 18 that was vaccinated at least 2 months ago may receive a booster shot. For those that received a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine initially, here are the groups that are approved for a booster:
- 65 years and older
- Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
- Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
- Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
Dr. Norem told us that a booster is very simple to get. You can go through your physician but they are also being given at most national drug stores. Just be sure that you bring your vaccine card with you.
