Something Strange Is Happening With Turkeys in Rockford
I feel like I've been seeing way too many turkeys around Rockford lately. And not just walking around neighborhoods... I'm seeing way too many feathers on the roads and in parking lots. Like, what's the deal?
Honestly, it's been concerning me because it's never felt this bad.

From what I've learned, wild turkey mating season happens in the spring, usually February through early June, with peak activity in April and May. So yeah, they're out more, they're moving around more, and they're definitely more aggressive this time of year.
And if you've ever encountered one, you know they're not exactly friendly. Turkeys will chase you, puff up, and fully act like they own the place. But I still don't remember seeing this many dead on the roads. I'm just wondering if it's just increased activity, more turkeys in general, or if they're just crossing roads more and getting hit. Either way, it feels like something's off compared to previous years. Are we not seeing these giant birds in the middle of the road or what? Too many are getting hit!
If you're dealing with them in your neighborhood, I've also seen that they hate strong smells, like citrus, vinegar peppermint oil, even garlic. So that might help keep them away a bit.

Maybe It's just me, but between the feathers everywhere and how often I'm seeing turkeys roaming the streets of Rockford, it feels like there's an influx of them. I've always said turkeys have the ability to take over the world, and I stand by that!
