Rockford's Cierra White shares the story of why sometimes you shouldn't ignore those 'too-good-to-be-true' DMs in your inbox.

Not long after Cierra White graduated from Rockford's Christian Life High School, she moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in modeling and entertainment.

It's not an easy dream to achieve, no matter how talented you are, or where your talents lie. The other crazy thing about success in these industries, is that often it can be like dating. You ever notice how many people meet their 'person' while they're busy dong other things?

Getting the gig can be just like that; live your life doing what you enjoy and eventually the right person crosses your path.

During the spring of 2020, Cierra really got into roller skating. It became an obsession for her during the pandemic. It's been years since I've been on roller skates and every time I would see Cierra in one of her Instagram videos, I would immediately go back to those high school Friday nights at the roller rink.

Tell me those palm trees and that air isn't exactly where you'd like to be skating.

This next video Cierra shared features the coolest roller skates I've ever seen. Check out how the light up.

All of this new found love for roller skating was exactly how she landed the gig in Silk Sonic's video for their latest single, Skate.

Cierra got a DM on Instagram that said,

"Hey, we've been watching your skating videos and we really want you to be a part of this thing..."

The sender never really identified exactly what 'this thing' was, so she just ignored it. A few days later, Cierra is with one of her skating girlfriends who tells her she's going to be in a music video. When she asked her friend how she finds out about these job offers, she told Cierra that they always "slide into her DMs."

I'll bet you can guess what Cierra did immediately.
