Rockford’s New Police Chief is Daniel O’Shea from Elgin

The former Commander of the Elgin Police Department will be bringing his 30 years of experience to the Forest City.

According to mystateline.com, Daniel O'Shea beat out 30 other applicants for the job of Rockford's top cop. The Board of Police and Fire Comissioners selected O'shea over Assistant Deputy Chief Doug Pann.

"First and foremost on my mind is to increase communication," O'Shea said Tuesday. "Make sure everybody is on the same page, whether it be with the officers or with the citizens and the business owners."
